CAMBRIDGE JUNGIAN CIRCLE

ERIC HUTCHISON

CONVERSATIONS & REFLECTIONS

Booklet and DVD

Book

Eric Hutchison died in March 2009 and had been a Jungian analyst as well as Anglican priest in Cambridge for many years. He was also a member of the Cambridge Jungian Circle.

In January 2001 a series of recorded conversations began with Richard Barwell, co-founder and one time chair of the Circle, who is also Editor of the Cambridge Therapy NoteBook. The seven meetings, the last one of which was not long before Eric’s death, all first appeared in the NoteBook and are collected together in this 48 page soft cover booklet.

The cover is illustrated with a beautiful drawing specially created for it by Gill Recordon who is also a long standing member of the Circle and there is a fascinating account of Gill’s understanding of what Eric had to say and how she developed her drawing to reflect this with the drawings she made as she went along.

The booklet covers many important topics both for therapy and life coming from both Eric’s Jungian and Anglican perspectives.

There is also a complete transcription of Bishop Martin Shaw’s moving address given at Eric’s funeral.

DVD

Title: "The Transfiguration of Death on the Journey into Life"

7th February 2007.

Here Eric Hutchison interacts with a small selected group about his understanding of life, Zoë, ‘which flows unceasingly from the heart

of God in the power of the Spirit into the depths of the Self’ – which was the ‘key development’ he was working on at that time. The DVD is over 1-3/4 hours long. The case includes diagrams from Eric’s own sketches of his understanding of the psyche as well as the dialectic between human and Holy spirit.
